Founder Notes #1 - The Beginning of the Canada Bubble Tea Festival

Preparations for this year’s Canada Bubble Tea Festival are already underway.

It’s hard to believe we are now approaching the fifth edition.

Many people think the festival began in 2022.

But the idea actually started much earlier — back in 2018.

At the time, I found myself thinking about a simple question:

What would it look like if Vancouver had a festival dedicated to bubble tea?

By the end of 2019, we had started preparing seriously.

The original plan was to launch the first festival in 2020.

But as everyone knows, something unexpected happened.

The pandemic arrived, and the entire world pressed pause.

The festival plans had to pause as well.

Sometimes things in life are like that —

not because you don’t want to do them, but because the timing simply isn’t right.

Then in the summer of 2022,

the first Canada Bubble Tea Festival finally came to life.

And this year, we reach the fifth edition.

Looking back, it still feels a little surreal.

An idea that once existed only in my mind

has slowly grown into a city-scale festival.

This year marks an important milestone for the festival —

and the beginning of its next chapter.

Looking ahead, my hope is to build the Canada Bubble Tea Festival into

one of the most recognized bubble tea festival brands in the world.

A place where people from different cultures and communities

can come together over a single cup of bubble tea.
